Parcoll housing units in use with the polar continental shelf project

The Parcoll Housing unit is a sectional, insulated, aluminum framed shelter that meets all the requirements of a temporary or semi-permanent accommodation.  Light portable heaters are all that's needed to keep these units warm and comfortable during extreme weather conditions with temperatures as low as 60 degrees below zero.

No special tools are required for the erection or disassembly of this shelter.  All parts are self contained and lightweight making it possible for two men to load the Parcoll unit by hand into a small, single engine aircraft.  This is an important factor where transportation costs in unsettled areas are to be considered.

The flooring of the unit, which assembles into shipping containers, requires no elaborate foundation preparation. It can be erected on rough ground.  The unit is available in the standard 16' width and any length desired can be had by adding 4' sections.  The warm, insulated weatherproof cover withstands heavy snow loads, the buffeting of arctic blizzards, rain and below zero temperatures.

For safety reasons, the Parcoll housing unit has a bright orange exterior that is visible for miles under normal flying conditions, providing an ideal signal for exploration and survey crews.  Other colors available upon request.

Assembly 3

The Parcoll Housing unit is assembled in sections.  The shipping containers form an insulated flooring.  All parts are interchangeable.  When assembled, the covering is windproof yet the unit is designed to provide adequate ventilation.

Because of the lightweight materials used,  the Parcoll Housing unit is convenient to transport by air to remote areas.

The sturdy, yet light, sectional aluminum frame makes possible erection or disassembly in a short time by untrained personnel dressed in bulky clothing even in poor weather.

In short, the Parcoll Housing Unit is:

  •         Lightweight - designed for transport by small aircraft.
  •         Easy to assemble and dismantle - no special tools required.
  •         Proven under 100mph winds and -60 degrees below zero.
  •         Assembly can be done on  snow, rough or soft ground.
  •         Packed in containers for easy handling by 2 men.
