Mimio Applications

• General: Installing the Mimio enables the user to present themes and ideas in a variety of application environments.
• Simulated Desktop:The proprietary Mimio software enables the user to hookup their computer with a multimedia projector and activate the Mimio mouse to simulate an actual computer mouse. The projection onto a white board, with the use of the Mimio software, can then become an active Desktop, thereby eliminating the need for the user to return each time, to their computer to initiate a feature change on their active desktop.
• Text Editors: Using the Mimio in a presentation enables the user to incorporate their Mimio pages into most windows' based text editors such as Microsoft Word, thereby becoming part of a word document.
• HTML: Mimio files can become a part of any web page. This enables the user to share their presentation ideas via the internet. Various file extensions, such as jpeg, bmp, can be easily applied to any Mimio file.

Installation Options

1. Cable Hookup: Installing the Mimio is fairly straight forward. Two connections are required to successfully run the Mimio. Make sure the ps2 and serial ports are available. The ps2 port is for powering the Mimio and the serial port is to recognize the Driver. Failure to connect both cables will make the Mimio inoperative.
2. Device Conflicts:Whether you are using Microsoft Windows '95, 98 or NT, make sure that any infrared drivers and palm pilot device drivers are not activated upon booting up your computer. If they are active, the Mimio will not work.
3. Batteries: To ensure that all markers and erasers are operational, please verify that a charged battery is loaded within each marker chasis and eraser puck.
4. Software: The proprietary Mimio software that is included in the package, must be installed on the computer that will be connected to the Mimio device.
5. Pen Markers: Use Dry Erase Markers. Not all pens will fit the pen holders provided with the Mimio package. Please verify pen size before purchasing additional pens.
6. Surfaces: Make sure that all surfaces to be used with the Mimio are flat and smooth, thereby ensuring that images will be reproduced accurately.

1. General: At Visual Planning Corporation/MagnaPlan Corp. our goal is to provide customers with qualtiy service for any product we sell. The Mimio is no exception.
2. 6 Month Policy: With the purchase of any Mimio, we provide six months of telephone support to assist in any setup issues for first time users.
3. Software Upgrades: Our market research shows that most of our customers don't have the time to monitor for upgrades in driver software and functionality issues. We at Visual Planning Corporation want to make this task a little easier. For the first six months after purchasing the Mimio, we will notify you of any changes to the Mimio that may impact on its range of applications.
4. Evaluation: If you are unsure about the use of the Mimio in your office environment, we offer the opportunity to receive an evaluation copy of this product for a ten day trial period. Certain terms apply.

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs

1. An error message states that the serial port can't open. Why? Most probably due to a device conflict. Make sure no other device is also using the same port. For example, a Personal Data Assistant (i.e. PalmPilot). If your computer has an infrared port, make sure this is disabled as well.
2. I don't have a serial port available. What can I do?: Mimio can also operate with a USB port and a 3rd party USB-to-serial adapter. Please call us before purchasing a USB port. Not all products are compatible with the Mimio.
3. Why are my drawings not being recorded?: Assuming all hardware is connected properly, verify whether you have multiple mimio session files open. Perhaps you failed to attach the capture bar to the current mimio session. Alternatively, make sure there is an active session file. If not, click 'NEW' from the File Menu to open a new session file.
4. My marker styli are not being picked up by Mimio. Why?: Verify that the batteries are still charged. This is the most likely explanation. If the batteries are okay, then check all hardware connections.
